Because I Said So – Dad Edition – Balancing Family During Holidays

by BuckDaddy on November 21, 2009

For this week’s Because I Said So, MommaDJane and I are going to discuss: Family holiday traditions.  How do you feel about your in-laws, do they come and visit for holidays or stay with you?  Do you host holiday gatherings in your home?

Holiday Traditions

There are several ways to deal with the holidays.  When I got married we had to come up with a plan.  Both my parents and my wife’s parents live here in Memphis.  We had to decide what we were going to do.  On Thanksgiving, we decided that we would go to breakfast with her parents and in the afternoon/evening with my parents.  I usually check out the Black Friday ads and figure out if I plan on getting up to do any shopping.  As far as Christmas, we go to my brother’s house for Christmas Eve and go to Midnight Mass with my family.  Christmas Day, we spend with her family. After all that we do Christmas stockings later on that day.

In-Laws

As you can read, I get along with my in-laws.  I hang out with my father-in-law.  We are in the same fantasy football league along with brother-in-law (all three of us are the top of the league).  I like my in-laws.  They are good people.

I am heading over to MommaDJane to check hers out.  Why don’t you join me?

I also get along great with my in-laws. It makes things so much easier when it works like that. My father-in-law is always here helping my wife (thus helping me) and when I am home we are usually throwing back a few beers.
