Launch Memphis, Sarah Lacy, Geoff Livingston, Social Networking, Wait for Daddy,

I attended two different events with LaunchMemphis. The first one was The User Generated Book Tour with Sarah Lacy. If you want a review of the event jsut click on LaunchMemphis and they have a great write up.

I did buy Sarah Lacy’s book, Once You’re Lucky, Twice You’re Good: The Rebirth of Silicon Valley and the Rise of Web 2.0 (Hardcover), and have her autograph it. What I found really cool about this was that they had chairs set up so you could have a conversation with her. If I was more entrepreneurial than this would have been a huge benefit. I also heard she didn’t leave until she talked to everyone. She did offer one key piece of advice. If you start your own internet based company never give up control unless you have to.

Last night, I went to Quetzal coffee shop and saw PR guru Geoff Livingston. I had a good time. I won his book, Now Is Gone: A Primer on New Media for Executives and Entrepreneurs (Paperback). He autographed it too. This was a more informal event. What was really cool was that Geoff went around to each person and had a five minute conversation. He reccomended some cool books. Again I guess if I was more entrepreneurial it would have helped but it was cool to talk to him about his personal blog and his weight loss.

Cooler than all that. Danni would not go to bed until Daddy got home. Danni and I have a rountine at bedtime. We shut off the lights, we say pryers, hugs and kisses, etc. She was not ready to go to bed until I walked through the door.

The last thing she said before she went to bed is, “Okay Daddy I go to sleep so I can go to school. Love you.”

I guess we won’t be taking her out of MDO.
