For this week’s Because I Said So, MommaDJane and I are going to do something a little different. We are challenging each other to write something deep.
When I started became a parent and made the decision to make my blog about parenting. I was going to write cute stories about my daughter. I was going to write funny stories about what she said. It is hard to fill a blog with those kind of things though. Sometimes we get caught up with product reviews and information parents would be interested in. I was super excited when MommaDJane and I decided that we should change it up a little and write about something deep.
Letters to My Daughter
Yesterday, I got sick around 3 p.m. I won’t go in to details but it put me out of commission. My wife has a strict rule that if you are sick, you are locked up in the bedroom and not to come out. She Lysols (is that a verb) everything that I touch.
I bring this up for a couple of reasons. I was in bed, last night, when my family came into the room to tell me good night. My daughter blew me a kiss and bounced out of the room. As I rolled over, I had a thought. I should blog more personal things more often. Maybe I should start a new blog (I need that like another whole in my head) and call it something like Letters to My Daughter. The plan was always to print and bind Rules for My Daughter and this blog and give it to my daughter when she is older.
As I mentioned I was laying in bed and my daughter had left the room. Here is what I composed in my head.
Something Deep (Letter to My Daughter)
Dear Danni,
Today I was sick. Your mother has a strict rule about being sick. If you are sick, you stay in bed. You and mom came in last night to say good night. You were sad about not seeing me all day and literally bouncing with happiness in place because you got to see me for a second. You blew me a kiss and waited on mommy to do the same.
As mommy blew me a kiss, I saw you dancing. You do this a lot. I am not sure if it music you hear in your head or you are just happy. Either way, don’t ever lose that. Always dance and feel happy. At times, life will be hard. In fact, it will down right stink. If you keep a positive outlook then things will always be good.
Never stop dancing and loving life. This morning, you woke up and put on your tutu, Minnie Mouse ears, and a gray sweater. You came out and asked me “Don’t I look beautiful?!” IT was more of a statement then a question. Keep that up kid. Think you are beautiful and the rest of world will fall into place.
I love you everyday,
Daddy
I am heading over to MommaDJane to check hers out. Why don’t you join me?
