I sometimes can be found blogging at Dad-o-matic. Last Friday, I wrote a post called Traveling Dad Doesn’t Have Guilt. I took some heat in the comments and pushed some people’s buttons. That was not my intention. It was supposed to be just a quick post about how I was feeling and what I was going through. After I read them, I was a little hurt. It stopped me from blogging. It almost paralyzed me.  I took a few days away from the computer to figure out how I felt about it. I put myself out there and I can not expect everyone to feel like I do or to be nice about it. I also came up with some ways to deal with mean comments on your blog.
- Ignore it: This only works if you are dealing with people that don’t have constructive criticism. The dads who commented had constructive criticism.
- Respond: I responded to each comment with how I felt about what they said.
- Apologize: There was one comment that I felt that I truly upset this dad with my post. I apologized.
- Don’t take it personal: I put it out there. I need to have a thick skin.
- Can’t win them all: There is no way I can win every reader over every time. I am not going to try either.
