Unless you are living under a rock, you know what Black Friday is. You might not have known you usually can do a little research and find all thed ads beforehand so you can plan your trip. Last year, I worked retail during Black Friday and it was an experience. I have camped outside a Best Buy for a laptop. To me, Black Friday is like a football game. you have to have a playbook (the ads) and a plan of attack to succeed.
I was asked by Collective Bias, an interactive marketing firm that connects brands with shoppers, and Whrrl.com, a location based mobile application that lets users share stories the moment they are happening, to be part of a group of 20 savvy shoppers that will document their individual stories of finding the best Black Friday deals and all the fun I am going to have on the actual shopping day. This is using social media in a new and interesting way.
The 20 savvy shoppers, me being one of them, led by the Consumer Queen and the Gift Mommy from Giftfully Simple will also be competing against each other to be the one that finds the-best-deal out there and the winner wins Google Analytics training or tech/design assistance for his or her blog. Visitors to the website My Black Friday Deals can vote for the best deals on the site now up until all day Friday, November 27, 2009.
The competition is very stiff because I am up against some really good deal seekers. I don’t expect to win. I plan on having some real fun.
You can follow the stories (here).
