My friend and fellow Dad-o-matic writer, Dave Delaney “spammed” me and I glad he did.  He sent me a letter about something I have been meaning to write about for some time.  Kiva.org is is the first person to person micro-lending website that is empowering entrepreneurs around the world!

How Kiva works:

You can go to Kiva’s website and lend to someone across the globe who needs a loan for their business – like raising livestock, selling produce at market or making products.  Each loan has a picture of the entrepreneur, a description of their business and how they plan to use the loan so you know exactly how your money is being spent – and you get updates letting you know how the entrepreneur is going.

The best part is, when the entrepreneur pays back their loan you get your money back – and Kiva’s loans are managed by microfinance institutions on the ground who have a lot of experience doing this, so you can trust that your money is being handled responsibly.

I 100% believe in researching before your money so don’t take my word for it, check out what these sites have said TechCrunch, Time, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, ABC News, Inc., Good Morning America, USA Today, Network World, Forbes, Town and Country and CNN just to name a few.

Disclosure: I am participating in a blogathon as part of the Uprinting Blog Sponsorship Program and have been entered to win a $100 credit to lend on Kiva by sharing this post with you. With that said I 100% believe in Kiva and what it stands for
