Clorox Toilet Wand Giveaway and Coupon

CloroxToiletWand

When I got married my wife and I had a discussion about certain household cleaning duties.  There were a couple that fell into my responsibilities because she didn’t want to do it and I didn’t mind.  One of these was the cleaning of the toilets.  So when Clorox offered to sponsor a review of their Toilet Wand system and give me 3 kits to give away, I jumped on it.

Each kit consists of a reusable handle, they refer to it as a wand, six (6) disinfecting toilet refills that are single use, and a caddy that holds the handle for storage.  You start by snapping the reusable head on the wand and soak it in the toilet water, a foam appears, and you can start scrubbing.  After scrubbing if you wait 10 or so minutes before flushing it will disinfect the bowl as well.

I used the Clorox Toilet Wand  on the toilet in the my bathroom, yes the wife and I have separate bathrooms and its a good thing trust me.  Since I have been traveling I have been slacking on the cleaning so both toilets were looking pretty grimy.  I assembled the wand and put the head in the water.  After a couple of seconds, it foamed up a lot.  I can see why they say if you leave it in there it will disinfect.  This was a heck of lot easier than the old toilet brush I had been using.  The head swivels and kills 99.9% of germs.

Since there was so much foam I decided I see if it was a truly a single use head.  I took the wand into my wife’s toilet and there was considerably less foam this time around but it did the job and scrubbed it too.  I then pushed the little button and the head came right off into the trashcan.

What is cool about the Clorox Toilet Wand:

  • It is simple to use
  • There is not a lot of elbow grease involved in getting it clean
  • No grimy brush breeding who knows what for my kid to get into

The drawbacks of the Clorox Toilet Wand:

  • The head is truly a one time use
  • Not sure how I feel about the amount of waster the heads will create

The system works as advertised.  I will probably switch to using these full time.  The convenience is worth the price for me.

Want to try them out  There is a great coupon available for $5 off a Clorox Toilet Wand.  In fact print it twice because each computer is allowed to do that.  The Clorox Toilet Wand set that I got had $3 off it on the box so I am sure I can combine and save even more.

Be sure you attend the  Twitter Party on Oct 23rd from 10-11pm EST.  Thy are giving away a ton of prizes including 3 Clorox Toilet Wand Kits and (1) $100 Visa gift card for a Bathroom Makeover.  To join go to Consumer Queen and sign up on the Mr. Linky she has posted.

Even better 3 lucky people will win their own set!

I thought the idea was a waste, a big rip off of swiffer wet jets(but for toilets). Until you mentioned kids, probably is worth it not to have your kid using the toilot brush as a microphone.

You don't have to get intimate with the toilet in order to clean it. With the Clorox® ToiletWand™ System, you can get at all areas of the toilet from a distance and then refill the cleaning head for a fresh approach the next time around.

I learned there is a difference between sanitizing and disinfecting.

# Sanitizing—Reduce the amount of bacteria on a surface

# Disinfecting—Killing the common fungi, bacteria, and viruses on a surface

don't forget to disinfect sponges – in addition to using their clorox way we just throw into the dishwasher twice a week

A great way to prep for bathroom cleanup is to run the hot water in your shower for a few minutes before cleaning. The steam will work for you by loosening dirt and grime, easing the cleaning process

petersen10700 October 13, 2009 at 4:09 pm

I agree with the one time use and the waste to the environment. On the otherhand this looks like it would make my cleaning job easier!! I hope I win!

Thank you for the giveaway. I learned that you should discourage sharing at mealtime to help prevent cold and flu. This is a very interesting website and I think I'm going to stick around and read for awhile!

I was reading the article about “Catching Germs in School and in Sports”. There was a ton of stuff I try to teach my kids already, but I really never thought of where they would place their school bag on the bus. There are so many germs on the floor and I have to admit to placing my purse sometimes on the floor at theaters or restaurants and never think before placing it on my counter once I get home. Yuck!
