When I got married my wife and I had a discussion about certain household cleaning duties. There were a couple that fell into my responsibilities because she didn’t want to do it and I didn’t mind. One of these was the cleaning of the toilets. So when Clorox offered to sponsor a review of their Toilet Wand system and give me 3 kits to give away, I jumped on it.
Each kit consists of a reusable handle, they refer to it as a wand, six (6) disinfecting toilet refills that are single use, and a caddy that holds the handle for storage. You start by snapping the reusable head on the wand and soak it in the toilet water, a foam appears, and you can start scrubbing. After scrubbing if you wait 10 or so minutes before flushing it will disinfect the bowl as well.
I used the Clorox Toilet Wand on the toilet in the my bathroom, yes the wife and I have separate bathrooms and its a good thing trust me. Since I have been traveling I have been slacking on the cleaning so both toilets were looking pretty grimy. I assembled the wand and put the head in the water. After a couple of seconds, it foamed up a lot. I can see why they say if you leave it in there it will disinfect. This was a heck of lot easier than the old toilet brush I had been using. The head swivels and kills 99.9% of germs.
Since there was so much foam I decided I see if it was a truly a single use head. I took the wand into my wife’s toilet and there was considerably less foam this time around but it did the job and scrubbed it too. I then pushed the little button and the head came right off into the trashcan.
What is cool about the Clorox Toilet Wand:
- It is simple to use
- There is not a lot of elbow grease involved in getting it clean
- No grimy brush breeding who knows what for my kid to get into
The drawbacks of the Clorox Toilet Wand:
- The head is truly a one time use
- Not sure how I feel about the amount of waster the heads will create
The system works as advertised. I will probably switch to using these full time. The convenience is worth the price for me.
Want to try them out There is a great coupon available for $5 off a Clorox Toilet Wand. In fact print it twice because each computer is allowed to do that. The Clorox Toilet Wand set that I got had $3 off it on the box so I am sure I can combine and save even more.

You can use clorox to disinfect cutting boards and sponges.
I appreciated their explanation of the difference between disinfecting and santizing. It would have been nice if they included sterilizing too, but this was very informative.

I learned to launder bedsheets regularly with Anti Allergen clorox Bleach. This will help control allergens such as mold, dust mite matter and pet dander!
I learned that cleaning and disinfecting are not the same thing, which seems like common knowledge, but you don't really look at it that way until you've been informed. I always think if I clean it, we're good to go. Not so.

I didn't know that grout is porous and therefore especially susceptible to mold and mildew.
On Saturday my husband was grumbling about cleaning the toilets (I do the rest of the bathrooms!) and our 5 year old granddaughter heard him She told grandpa she thought if you got one of those outdoor ones in the backyard he'd never have to clean it since the rain would do it for him.
No, I didn't help him explain his way out of that one.

I learned that disinfecting with an EPA registered product such as Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner with Bleach has been shown to kill 99.9 percent of E. coli, Staphylococcus (staph) and Salmonella, plus other potentially harmful germs including viruses such as influenza (the “flu” virus), rhinovirus (one of the causes of the common cold) and rotavirus.

You can use clorox bleach to sanitize plastic toys for your kids!
Keep the bathroom hygienic. While germs generally don’t live on towels very long, they can live long enough to make a healthy kid sick. So launder them regularly. You may even want to switch to disposable paper towels for a week to prevent germs from infecting other family members. By the same token, consider replacing the bathroom water glass with disposable paper cups for a while. And get your child a new toothbrush after he's been sick.

I learned the following: Keep a small basket on the dryer for odd socks. Then when their mates appear, you'll be able to match them on hand. When washing them, try Clorox® UltimateCare® Bleach. You can pour it directly onto bleachable socks and fabrics!
