Last year, I wrote down 10 New Year’s Resolutions. With 2009 about to come to a close, I thought I should look back and check my progress and see how I did. Looking back at these goals, I realize that some of them were counter active. Trying to get out of debt but wanting to buy a 2nd car go together like oil and water. I guess I was trying to make vinegar.
1. Find a way to make additional income through blogs and stores: I was able to make a little money but not enough to really make a difference in my life. Progress: 1/4 completed
2. Get out of debt: We accomplished this in April. We owed nothing but then the economy took a nose dive. The cost of things went up and I did not make enough. I took on a 2nd and 3rd job. My wife started working. We went back into debt. We have been there for awhile. Progress: 1/2 completed
3. Buy a 2nd Car: My truck broke down so we had to get a new to us car. I then got the truck fixed and we had two cars. It also did not help us staying out of debt. Progress: Completed
4. Teach daughter to ride a bike: Santa is bringing a bike this year so I think this will be completed shortly. She sort of knows how to do it. We tried bikes out in the store and she seems to get it. Progress: TBD
5. Teach daughter to swim: Didn’t even try. Progress: Incomplete
6. Take my wife on a honeymoon: Didn’t even try. Progress: Incomplete
7. Find a church: We found a church. Progress: Completed
8. Get daughter baptized: This happened at the same time as #7. Progress: Completed
9. Buy a treadmill: We bought one in April. Progress: Completed
10. Lose weight: I lost about 30lbs but since have gained it all back. Progress: 1/2 completed
Overall Progress: 5 1/4 completed with a possible 6th.
In 2010, I am going to make 1 resolution. I have hinted about what it is on Twitter. It is one of the common ones but I am going to blog about its progress here often to hold myself accountable.
How did you do in 2009? Have you decided on your 2010 resolution(s) yet?

A few resolutions I have is to move me and the family back to Delaware, find a job and make a real impact at the new job, and get my weight down to 225 lbs-230 lbs (that means I have to lose about 30-35 lbs). I have alot of work to do in 2010.
Hey, Buck, you've got quite a list of goals here. I think your goals are like most people's but, “life happens.” I hope you're not feeling down or anything about the ones you weren't able to complete. Instead of looking at what you haven't accomplished, think of what you have. I stopped making resolutions a long time ago – I let God decide what I am to accomplish for the season in my life. So far it's worked out because I've made some big strides this year. Looking forward to totally owning next year. And I can't wait to see what you pull from out of your hat.
Finding a job is on my list too. It is not really a resolution per say. Good luck man!
Those were the old goals. I don't think of myself as a failure. I am not worried about the ones I didn't complete. I try to not spend a lot of time looking back. I am ready to rock the heck out of 2010
I hear ya man, me too! I'm going to totally destroy 2010!
I am going to pretend to be 2010's friend and then talk about it behind it's back (it's from a radio commercial)
