Nintendo DS Personal Training: Walking: Review of features

by BuckDaddy on July 7, 2009

With today being Father Daughter Take a Walk Together Day and me being the geek I am, I found this cool Nintendo DS game called Personal Trainer: Walking.

Personal Trainer: Walking converts users’ information into fun, interactive graphical displays. The readouts allow users to discover interesting facts about their levels of activity throughout the day and help them avoid being sedentary, which includes identifying them as animals including a koala or a galloping horse. Data for up to four users can be stored on one game card.

I am going to get one because it looks like it comes with two pedometers, one fore Chelsea and one for me. I probably share one of them with Danni so we can include her in on the fun.

Personal Trainer: Walking invites users to set daily walking goals, but it also helps them to recognize their activity patterns over longer periods of time. It records up to five years’ worth of walking data to help users track their progress. This collection of data can motivate people to set new goals and become more active.

Personal Trainer: Walking is the first Nintendo DS game to use Mii characters. Users can import their Mii characters from the Wii console or create new ones using the Personal Trainer: Walking software. Danni loves her Mii and thinks of it as herself whenever we use Wii Fit

The “Walk the World” feature lets users draw pictures on the face of the Earth using the total number of steps they take, while users who have wireless broadband Internet access can see a display of the total steps taken by users around the world on their virtual journey to other planets in “Space Walk.” We have wireless and I think we can even walk to the moon and back.

I can not wait to try out Personal Trainer: Walking.

What is cool about Personal Trainer: Walking

  • You can use your Mii character for the Wii.
  • You can walk to the “moon” and back.
  • Totally interactive for the kids.

Drawback of the Personal Trainer: Walking

  • It is for the DS and not the Wii
  • Some of the cooler features you have to have a Wii and/or wireless set up
